Beasts

Orion travels through the mountains, helping nature along the way, not knowing that the Beasts have already caught scent of him and undoing all the good he has done. As he makes him way through jagged terrain, the Beasts finally catch up to him...

Concepts for Beasts. The character designs here are done together with my teammate and we went back and forth with many ideas, especially for Orion. We also wanted the film to be dark and serious, therefore the colours are mostly grey and dull.

I started out by experimenting with different styles and designs. The running theme for all the designs is 'tribal'. 

My teammate and I decided to settle with a mongolian design and large cat-like eyes. The cat eyes were then removed in favour of a more expression-less look.

We were still not satisfied with the look of the character and decided to age him up and give him a more mature look.

After a few more designs, we finally settled on the design on the right for its simplicity, with a sash tied around his waist to hint at his true form.

Initial sketches of the Beast. We experimented on different shapes and build it can have and decided to give it a more wolfish appearance.

Further development of the wolf design to determine its body and head shape.

 Unused bear character that we scrapped as it was redundant to the story.
